Yeni adli yılA new judicial year
Ülkenin hâlinden umudaFrom the country's condition toward hope
Her Eylül cüppeyi ilk kez giyen o yeni kuşakta.
September has come, the courthouses reopen, a new judicial year begins. Let us be honest: we open this year in no easy time. Trust in justice is weary; trials run long; many feel the scale does not weigh equally; the young colleague wonders inwardly, "is it worth it?" I will not ignore these — because false hope is an insult to real hope.
Not thinking it flat, but refusing to stop straightening it
But real hope is not thinking the field is flat. Real hope is the refusal to stop straightening a curved field. Pessimism is easy and often looks justified; but it fixes nothing, it only legitimizes withdrawal. A lawyer's pessimism is a kind of quiet surrender. I am not signing that surrender.
Hope is not thinking the field is flat; it is refusing to stop straightening a curved one.
Where the hope is
I do not look for hope in the air; I see it in concrete places.
In the thousands who still knock on that door. Though institutions are shaken, people still choose the court over the stone. That choice itself is proof that civilization holds — and that invisible trust, a society's dark matter, is not yet spent.
In the new generation that puts on the robe each September. In the faces not yet worn down, carrying the ideal fresh. The system ages; but each year new blood enters it.
And in the unseen, everyday acts of conscience. The judge who resists pressure, the lawyer who takes the hopeless case, the clerk who stays fair. Justice lives most often not in the headlines but in these small, quiet "no"s.
A new page
A judicial year is a clean page — not because the past is erased, but because every page can be written better than the last. That the wound persists is itself a sign: proof that we still believe there ought to be justice. It is not despair but that stubborn belief that sits us down at the file again tomorrow.
To everyone putting on the robe this September: this country needs not our pessimism but our clear-eyed, stubborn hope. The scale may tilt; but as long as there are hands to straighten it anew each day, justice does not wholly fall.
May the new judicial year be a good one. Tomorrow, we are there again.
